Dialogue Script

This is our dialogue script: (not all of it)

Diary Entry

A few updates we have made:

We have decided to start filming our thriller opening on Thursday 20th. We have established that this may set us behind a little, because it is a late date to start filming. However we have no choice as we are experiencing problems, with eachother not being able to make the lessons at the same time due to college trips that are taking place.

We have also decided to add an ambulence siren noise at the end of our thriller opening to add more tension instead of leaving it silent. It will end with a short fade out. We are currently working on making the soundtrack for our opening, using a certain software on an apple mac. We have decided to make our own music, to avoid problems with copyright and we can also make it to suit exactly what is going on in the scene.

Treatment.

In our opening scene there will be a long shot of two characters dancing in a field and then there will be old fashioned music playing in the background, zooms in into a midshot on the couple.as the couple are dancing a sinister man walks in wearing a long black cloak, there will be a tilt shot going up his body but not reviling his face He starts strolling across behind the couple and the couple rotates the man see’s the man and nods the sinister man. There will be an eye line match between the male dancer and the sinister man. Then steps back and the male dancer release the female dancer there will be a shot reverse shot between the male and female dancer then she is dragged by the sinister man she is screaming. She is dropped and the camera shot of the field around them but nobody in the shot. The male dancer appears slowly with a gun then there is a whitewash and you hear a gunshot.

Storyboard

1. Two people, man and woman are in a field, dancing happily in a feild. They are in love, and exchanging laughs and smiles. in the background there will be a romantic melody. The audience will be viewing scenery of a feild and the couple in central of the shot.

2. Shot reverse shot is used when the couple exchange short dialouge. They are happy and exchanging words of love and joy. The first shot will be from the mans point of view whilst he's talking then swap to her point of view with her reply of dialouge. (Sets the atmosphere to be happy and a sense of enjoyment) in the background there will be quiet slow music.

3. A tilt shot is used to reveal a mysterious man, who is staring at the 'happy' couple in the distance. He is slowly revealed showing all of him as he walks forward, the camera then follows him round as he walks slowly behind the couple. in the background the romantic music will continue but end with a sinister twist. The camera will be from his point of view, watching the couple.

4. Shot reverse shot is used to show the eyeline match between the man in the couple and the mysterious man. The woman is unaware of the men's awareness of each other. Audience will be vewing the mysterious man from the man in the couples point of view and then through the mysterious mans point of view, matching the mans eyeline, whilst also viewing the niave girl in the couple. The fast tension building music continues.

5. The camera shot is in the mysterious mans point of view. The man in the couple gives the mysterious man a suttle head nod without the woman seeing. This makes the audience eager to find out what happens.

6. Man in the couple swings the woman out giving the impression he is going to swing her back in, but doesn't. Leaving her worried and confused. (this is viewed from the man in the couples point of view) The mysterious man catches her and drags her backwards, she starts to scream. The beat speeds up as he grabs her.

7. The camera is now hand held, in the womans point of view. You can hear her screaming and heavy breathing, whilst the man from the couple is fading into the distance. the song would slow down and fade out so you can hear her breathing.

8. Mysterious man lets go of the woman and leaves her on the floor. The camera is now at a canted angle to withold information from the audience. The woman is behind the camera and you can still hear her breathing and it gets heavier as the man from the couple slowly walks into the shot.

9. The man slowly walks into the shot and once reached the woman, he stops and the camera does not show all of him, only part of him, again to withold information from the audience and they cannot see his facial expression.

10. Man says one or two words of dialouge to the woman. The womans breathing instantly gets heavier and faster in reaction to what he just said. (Camera still at the canted angle.)

11. Instant total white fadeout. The sound of the womans breathing is still in the background.

12. A sound of a gunshot is heard and the womans heavy breathing instantly cuts out.
(End of Scene)

Inspiration

Our inspiration for our 'Thriller Opening' came from a newspaper article, where a man hired someone to kill his newly married wife, whilst being on their honeymoon. He hired a man to hi-jack their car which then led to her death.

We found this quite disturbing and a very un-settleing thing to do. So we have chosen this and adapted on it because we think it will set a good atmosphere for an opening scene for a thriller. We have adapted it as the married man just gets help to scare his new wife and distracts her so he can kill her himself. Or at least that is what the audience thinks. The setting and the scenery is different, we have only taken the fact that a married man hired another man to have involvement in his wife's death.

We think this idea will be good and will relate to our target audience because it is quite scary and worrying from the woman's point of view, and confusing in the sense that the audience is 'thrown' in to the situation is not told any information to educate the audience on what is going on. leaving them eager to find out what happened, and what was the reasoning for what the man does to the woman and what happens next.

Target audience.

Target audience:

Our target audience will be between 15-18 because we will have a scary introduction that might be too scary for young children to watch but not that scary for adults, it will also include infrequent bad language.  The audience will enjoy thrillers and action filled films with a sinister motive.  The target audience will be mainly male.
